PERSONAL PROFILE

 

I am a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with almost 18 years’ experience in the property and construction industry. I have worked in the commercial sector, undertaking both refurbishment and new build projects, within the private residential, student residential & office accommodation markets.

A dynamic and ambitious results driven professional with a successful background in cost and management.

 

My area of expertise is project cost control, where I have been responsible for managing cost on projects ranging in value from £50,000 to over £120 million, from inception through to project completion.

 

Committed to achieving and exceeding demanding targets and business objectives whilst remaining focused on providing an exceptional standard of service to clients.

 

Possesses excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence decisions and build successful internal and external relationships. Enjoys being part of, as well as managing and motivating, a successful and productive team. Thrives in highly pressurised and challenging environments. Demonstrates high levels of motivation and initiative.

 

I have been appointed as a Quantum Expert and have further worked on a number of arbitrations and litigations across a range of sectors (both domestic and international), providing quantum expert witness support on claims worth collectively over one billion pounds. The tasks completed, have included detailed analysis of claims, quantity surveying valuations of work and report writing. I have also assisted lawyers directly when preparing quantum documents for submission.

 

Successfully completed my postgraduate Masters qualification in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution from King’s College London (with Merit) as well as the additional ‘Arbitral Award Writing Examination’. I have further successfully completed the Advanced Professional Award in Expert Witness Evidence accredited by the RICS and a Diploma in Adjudication organised and accredited by the RICS to become a qualified Adjudicator.

 

I sit as an Adjudicator on UK Adjudicators panel as well as the RICS Consumer Home Improvements Adjudication Panel. I  previously sat as an acting Arbitrator under the ABTA scheme, successfully serving several binding awards under the Arbitration Act 1996.

Recently secured and commenced a scholarship to BPP University (Law School) to undertake the Barrister Training Course (BTC) to become dual-qualified. Expected completion of the course in Summer 2024.

  • Successfully acted as Party Representative within multiple Adjudications.

  • Successfully acted as Party Representative in collating and forming party’s claims in final account settlements and extensions of time.

  • Assistant Quantum Expert on behalf of a consultant for a TCC case regarding a Professional Negligence claim for the remedial costs of works carried out to a television media centre and studio within the UK.

  • Assistant Quantum Expert on behalf of a blue chip company in relation to a TCC matter regarding a Professional Negligence claim for the remedial costs of works carried out following a structural failure.

  • Assistant Quantum Advisor on behalf of an international contractor in relation to a termination and build‐out project of a UK Waste to Energy Plant.

  • Assistant Quantum Expert on behalf of a Korean contractor in relation to an ICC Arbitration over the final account in relation to a new LPG Train at a refinery in the Middle East.

  • Assistant Quantum Expert on behalf of a European Country in relation to an ICC Arbitration over the termination of a Joint Venture Contract for the construction of a major rail infrastructure project.

  • Assistant Quantum Expert on behalf of a Joint Venture Contractor in relation to an ICC Arbitration for a professional negligence claim on a major infrastructure (road) project in South-East Europe.

Completed full spectrum of activities expected from a quantity surveyor, including but not limited to undertaking early feasibility advice and cost exercises, full cost planning to detailed design stage, collating and issuing tenders to main contractors, main contract assembly, monthly valuations, change control, financial reporting and final account negotiations.

  • Performed Project Management, Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent roles as well as Quantity Surveying duties on a variety of projects in a vast range of market sectors for multiple clients.

  • Gained vast experience using the JCT suite of contracts.

  • Worked on a variety of prestigious projects such as Highbury Square, Allen & Overy London HQ and Nido Spitalfields. Experienced working in a range of sectors such as commercial new build, fit-out, data environment (industrial) and M&E as part of the company’s graduate rotation programme, which was a year’s duration.

  • Managed individual subcontractor works packages from budget stage to final account. As recognition for not only the ability I demonstrated for my age at the time, yet also the hard work and desire to learn I continued to show, I was nominated for Building Magazine’s ‘Young QS of the year award’ by AYH in December 2008.
